The make up and costume is an essential part of the Edu Clowns making them instantly recognisable.
Face paint
The white bright white face is very striking and helps the performer's to be seen clearly through the often diminishing evening light. The actor's nose is painted a bright red to signify their outrage at different social problems and the eyes are simply outlined by thick black lines giving the face a wide eyed expression; these clowns do not close their eyes to problems, but face them straight on. A large red smile is painted carefully underneath the mouth to complete the mask. By using the body to express emotion the performers smile often becomes tragic creating a powerful image to further highlight the message.
Costume
The current costumes were designed by Rev Benjamin Vima. They are brightly coloured to attract attention and made from loose material that shines underneath the lights.
